I recall my notes as those who look over an inverse river, a lump of small clouds loaded with prodigious waters that sometimes threaten to flood everything. I do not have this mythical memory of an elephant that some attribute themselves; mine is the simple and necessary evanescence of having noted with profusion what, at the moment I need a careful reading, a book or an interview, or a revealing conversation, perhaps casual, has managed to attract my conscious attention. These notes are the fuel of imagination and the possibility of a future that is built on what others thought before. In the midst of the always paradoxical and surprising days, the figure of a giant who has just crossed the threshold of history: Portuguese author António Lobo Antunes, the one who wrote: "The most we generally receive from life is a certain knowledge of it that arrives too late.".
Recorro às minhas notas como quem se debruça sobre um rio inverso, um cúmulo de pequenas nuvens carregadas de águas prodigiosas que, por vezes, ameaçam inundar tudo. Não possuo essa mítica memória de elefante que alguns se atribuem; a minha é a simples e necessária evanescência de ter anotado com profusão aquilo que, no instante preciso de uma leitura atenta, de um livro ou de uma entrevista, ou de uma conversa reveladora, talvez casual, conseguiu atrair a minha atenção consciente. Essas notas são o combustível da imaginação e a possibilidade de um futuro que se constrói sobre o que outros pensaram antes. No meio dos dias sempre paradoxais e surpreendentes, surge hoje a figura de um gigante que acaba de cruzar o limiar da história: o autor português António Lobo Antunes, aquele que escreveu: "O máximo que, em geral, recebemos da vida, é um certo conhecimento dela que chega demasiado tarde".
